What is the maximum output power on the 4-pins USB of the board?

The maximum power output for USB pin is 5V, 10W.

For boards with Power over Ethernet (PoE) output, which port are PoE input and PoE output

For boards with PoE output, the LAN0 port is the PoE input port. The LAN1 port is the PoE output port.

Can we input PoE in either of the Ethernet port of WPJ344HV /LV board?

Yes. Both LAN0/LAN1 can be use for PoE input. Note that when the board operate with PSE module, please don’t apply Passive PoE power to the Ethernet port close to DC jack, otherwise it will be damaged.

For example in WPJ344 board,the antenna ports are marked J19 and J20 on the PCB. Between J19 and J20, which one will be port 0 or left channel, and which one will be port 1 or right channel?

J19 is chain0, J20 is chain1. So if I configure the radio to use 1x1 Channel, the antenna is connected to J19.

Does Compex AP support 4G? Does Compex has any 4G/LTE/PCIe card with SIM slot for Compex board?

Compex does not manufacture any 4G/LTE module. Compex AP is able to support 3rd party modules. Note: All 4G modules are compatible with WPJ531 board since we have the USB signal connected to the MiniPCIe slot.

How to check the version of embedded boards?

Does all software/firmware version work compatible with latest version of boards?

With latest version of SDK can only produce latest version firmware, which can only be used on latest version boards. Please check with sales person or technical support to confirm the firmware and board version information.

How to reset to factory default?

Hold down the reset button for 8 seconds, while the board is in stable operation (not starting up), then the PCB will reset to factory default.

How does reset button work?

The reset button is a physical hardware button on the AP hardware board. Depending on how long the button is pressed, you can reboot the board or reset it to factory default. Refer to Reset Button for more information.

What is the electrostatic protection specifications?

The contact mode is 4KV, the coupling mode is 8KV.

Can Station WDS work with any AP in the market?

Station WDS can work with most of the AP in the market, eg. Microtik, Ubiquiti, TPlink, etc.

What is the sequences of LED on the board?

The LEDs starting from the one nearest the corner are: Power, LAN, LED#1, LED#2, LED#3, and LED#4.

How does LED indicator tell signal strength of wireless.

The LED indicators are summarized in the following table.

LED Description
Power (green) The Power LED emits a steady light when electrical power (normally at 24 V) is supplied to the board.
LAN (green) The LAN/Diagnostic LED is lighted dimly when the LAN ports are not connected. The LAN LED blinks whenever packets are transferred through any of the LAN ports.
LED#1 (red) LED#1 indicates the received signal strength (low).
LED#2 (orange) LED#2 indicates the received signal strength (medium).
LED#3 (green) LED#3 indicates the received signal strength (high).
LED#4 (green) LED#4 indicates the received signal strength (very high).

What are the differences between NAND and NOR flash?

NAND flash

  1. writes faster, takes 30s to load firmware.
  2. can write 1000 times in its lifetime.
  3. WPQ864 has 256MB NAND flash.
  4. firmware writes to UBI file system.
  5. place jumper at JP13 for WPQ864 to upgrade firmware and load from NAND flash.

NOR flash

  1. writes slower, takes 5min to load firmware.
  2. can write 100,000 times in its lifetime.
  3. WPQ864 has 32MB NOR flash.
  4. firmware does not write to UBI file system.
  5. place jumper at JP9 for WPQ864 to upgrade firmware and load from NOR flash.

Troubleshooting

How to reset to factory default?

Hold down the reset button for 8 seconds, while the board is in stable operation (not starting up), then the PCB will reset to factory default.

What to do if the board is bricked?

Ask technical support or sales for the JTAG files of the bricked board model .

How to check if J5 pin of WPJ558 6A08 board is transmitting voltage (5V)?

  • Check if the board is HV version.
  • Check if the firmware used is v1.83 onwards.
  • Check if the radio card is slotted in properly in MiniPCIe socket.
  • If all above are checked, test the J5 pin using multimeter to see if it is transmitting 5V.

Why the device always keep rebooting? How to resolve it?

There is number of reason could cause the device keep rebooting. If it is due to improper slot of wireless radio card, slot again the wireless radio card properly into miniPCIe socket. If it is due to dirt of golden fingers of wireless cards, wipe it with rubber eraser to remove the dirt.

Can the board WPJ344HV support 5V of voltage output to any miniPCIe modules?

When using LSDK, WPJ344 Gen 2 allow 5V to be supplied to other modules, besides Compex WLE600V5-27 and WLE900V5-27. When using LSDK/QSDK, WPJ344 Gen 3 don't allow 5V to be supplied to other modules, except Compex WLE600V5-27 and WLE900V5-27.
